Do you like understanding people?

I do.

When I was 18 years old I unknowingly started my career path in people development. I wanted to be an actress and tread the boards of the West End (that little exhibitionist streak still lies within me!)

I was taking a gap year before my intended studies, got a job at Virgin Atlantic and realised that training and coaching people gave me the similar platform I was seeking, but with a steady paycheck!

I also realised that people fascinated me.

Their differences and nuances. What motivated them, triggered them and made them tick. And this started my life’s work in understanding people. In getting to understand the complexities of the human mind and in studying the psychological disciplines and theories underpinning human behaviour. From NLP, to evolutionary, cognitive and then positive psychology which I still use in all my work now.

And in doing so I started to understand how different people needed different types of understanding, different methods of communication. That adaptation was key in order to achieve change, harmony, productivity, fulfillment and ultimately happiness.

The goal was never to manipulate, but to influence, to negotiate, to have more of an impact. But first and foremost to always understand.

And I discovered how words are so powerful in helping people understand.

Because what I’ve learnt from working with people as long as I have is that we all want to be heard.

We all want to be understood.

And when we are heard and understood we trust more, we are more open, we listen more and bring down our walls.

And it brings me so much joy to provide that space for people. But not only that, to help people communicate more effectively with each other. To help them really make an impact first with their ears and then with their words.

And it’s beneficial to us all.

If you are in a service based business having a fundamental understanding of personality goes a long way in understanding your clients.

And if you understand them? They feel heard, and if they feel heard they become aware, and awareness leads to some pretty awesome transformation.

If you’d like support with this hit reply and let me know.

And one more question if I may. If I’ve ever met you, do you think I understand you? I’m open to honest feedback.

And if I haven’t, I’d like to ☺️☺️☺️☺

Much love

Helen
