As a young girl, I remember standing on stage during a village pantomime, doing a little solo dance routine. It felt like such a huge stage with little old me on it, I felt like I wanted to shrink and disappear.

Afterward, the choreographer gave me feedback that stuck with me: 

“Helen, you need to take up more space on stage.” 

Little did I know, this was my first lesson in building presence.
