You are sitting in a meeting, holding a perspective that could shift the conversation.
And choose silence. Why does this happen?
Somewhere along the way, you learned it was safer to stay quiet than to speak with conviction.
This is not about confidence. Your voice doesn’t disappear overnight.
It gets buried slowly, under self-doubt, lack of validation, and the stories we create to keep ourselves safe.
I know this because I lived it, and have re-lived it again and again. There was a time I sat in a therapy room, barely speaking, convinced I had nothing meaningful to contribute.
Until someone said something that changed everything:
“You are capable of far more than where you find yourself right now.”
That moment challenged the narrative I had been operating under for years. And it sparked something far more powerful than confidence.
It created a fire platform underneath me.
A compelling reason to speak, to question the stories, and to step forward, even when it felt uncomfortable.
That shift led me to a TEDx stage, a career in speaking, and working with leaders across industries who are navigating the same invisible barrier.
What I now see clearly in leadership spaces is that we have a voice gap.
Leaders who are capable, thoughtful, and deeply insightful…but are holding back the very ideas that would create impact.
Because they’re waiting to feel ready and readiness doesn’t create a voice, truth does.
If you want to lead with influence, it’s not about becoming louder but clearer.
On what you believe, what needs to be said on why it matters. And often, that clarity only comes when you’re willing to examine:
- Where did I learn to stay quiet?
- What am I afraid will happen if I speak?
- Which of my current beliefs are actually untested assumptions?
The story you’re telling yourself about your voice is the problem. And leadership, at its core, requires you to challenge that story first.
So here’s a question for you:
What conversation are you avoiding that your leadership actually requires?
And if this resonates I invite you to join me on a journey.
