2024—what a year! Between sober raves, launching a podcast, and realising that AI is basically the personal assistant I always needed, I’ve had some big lessons.
And as is always the way with this time of year, I’m pausing to reflect on the last 12 months and would love to hear yours too.
Here are the ones that stood out (and made me laugh along the way):
Connection (My Word for 2024)
This year, I decided I couldn’t just sit at home hiding behind my laptop. So, I put myself out there at networking events, coffee catch-ups, conferences and a family trip abroad and so much happened as a result. Meeting other humans in real life is truly wonderful, and connection really is the secret sauce to life and business.
Sobriety: The Surprise MVP
I wasn’t sure what life without alcohol would look like. I just knew it wasn’t working for me anymore. What I didn’t expect was how much clarity, energy, and fun I’d find on the other side. Sober raves are officially a thing now, and I’m excited to see what other gems sobriety can bring next year.
Podcasting 101: Just Start Talking
Launching my podcast was one of the biggest things I’ve done this year, and also the most rewarding. I was able to hone my interviewing/hosting skills and have met the most talented incredible people. I also made the decision to go weekly.People thought I was mad, but it’s been worth it.
AI: The Ultimate Sidekick
If you’re still afraid of AI, I promise you, it’s here to help. It’s not stealing your job, but it will help you outline a book in record time or turn a day’s worth of brain fog into actionable ideas. (ChatGPT, I owe you one.)
Getting Over Myself (aka Showing Up on Video)
There was a long period of time where content used to terrify me. But this year, I got some lights, a decent mic, and a tiny tripod, and suddenly, it wasn’t so scary anymore. Plus, the results have been amazing: more engagement, more reach, more opportunities and increased confidence.
10 Years in Business (How Did That Happen?)
This year I celebrated a decade in business, a journey full of highs, lows, and a whole lot of learning. Reflecting on that has made me even more excited about what’s next.
What about you? What’s one thing you’ve learned this year that will shape your 2025? Let me know in the comments, I’d love to hear from you.
