I had a dream when I was a little girl that one day I’d be an actress.

Back then I already knew that putting on ‘an armour’ would make me feel more confident.

And although my career led to me standing up in front of people in a business context rather than an acting one, that armour served me well at first.

It stopped me feeling shy and self conscious, which was pretty much all the time. I used to blush when anyone asked me a question. Putting on a persona made me feel more bold.

But after a while it stopped working. Becoming a parent, completely losing my sense of self in my marriage (no blame, fully owned.) So I had to peel off the armour.

It wasn’t easy at first.

I was worried about what others might think. If I’d be too much, too quirky, too ‘out there.’ But the more I took off the layers, the more exciting, fulfilling and happy my life became.

I was truly honoured to speak with Phil Learney, Co Founder of HNM24 for their podcast. Phil Is such a great interviewer that this one went to a few vulnerable places. I spoke about things I’ve never shared before!

I’m hoping that being vulnerable, I can help others who might be able to relate to my story.
